For a number of years the issue of our sanctuary
acoustics and sound system has been discussed among congregants and committees
of our church. Information that has been retrieved from our files shows
that problems and discussion over this issue go back as far as 1981.
Near the end of 2007 our Board of Trustees has again undertaken to identify any
acoustic and sound system issues and obtain the technical expertise to aid us
in solving any problems. At the present time a proposal has been made to,
and accepted by, our Board of Trustees and Finance Committee to undertake a
modification project. Sources of funding have been identified for project
implementation that will not require the use of general budget
monies.
The only step remaining is for the question to come before our Administrative
Board for action. Since the use of the sanctuary affects a number of our
church’s ministries, the issue of its acoustics and sound system should
rightfully be open to congregational discussion prior to the vote. Due to
the longevity of the issue and the varied opinions held within the congregation
an effort has been undertaken to make the full record available. This has
resulted in a report document that presents all of the known information
currently available on the subject. The complete document,, broken into smaller manageable sections, is listed to the
left on this page and can be reviewed in printed format in the church office.
It is our hope that all church members who wish to speak to this subject will
review the document and come to the Administrative Board meeting. It is
also hoped this information will inform the discussion and decision
process. Time will be allotted for open discussion though only members of
the Board will have a vote. Charles Gilmore Chair, Administrative Board
