As Director of Music and Organist, Clinton oversees the music program of the church. This includes the adult, youth and children's choirs. He directs the Chancel Choir in the Sunday morning services usually from his position at the organ. He also accompanies special music programs both on the organ and piano.

Clinton was born in Roanoke, Virginia, and began his formal education with an Associate of Arts diploma (1959) at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Music (1961) degree from Baylor University and both Bachelor (1963) and Master (1964) of Music degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He continued his educational experiences with a music tour (1971) of Italy, Germany, Austria and Yugoslavia; Orff-Schulwerk, Level 1 (1985) at the University of Memphis, TN; and Kodaly, Levels 1 and 2 (1987) at Belmont University, Nashville, TN. He was ordained on September 30, 1973.

Clinton is a Fellow of Dr. Hugh T. McElrath in Music History and Hymnology (1962). His handbell choirs have performed in many regional and national festivals, twice as the featured choir. In 1991 he served on the committee for The Baptist Hymnal.

Among his other distinguished accomplishments he has served as Accompanist and briefly Director of the Hartsville Choral Society, Hartsville, SC; Board of Directors and Accompanist of the York County Choral Society, Rock Hill, SC; Accompanist and Assistant Director of the Transylvania Choral Society, Brevard, NC; and assists with the Music Institute at Brevard College, accompanying the community chorus for 2 years.
