There’s something for everyone in FUMC’s music ministry!
We have two childrens’ choirs that both meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:45 – 5:30.
Joyful Noise Singers is for our younger children, pre-school through early elementary age.
NewSong Singers is for our elementary age choir. These choirs perform separately and occasionally together at the 9:00 & 10:55 worship services several times each season. Emphasis is on learning music skills and worship participation and leadership.
Chancel Ringers handbell ensemble rehearse on Thursday mornings. Chancel Ringers ring in Church about once a month and have participated in local handbell festivals and other outside opportunities. Reading music or the willingness to learn how is very helpful.
Chancel Choir sings nearly every Sunday at the 10:55 A.M. worship service as well as presents major works with orchestra at high seasons such as Handel’s “Messiah”, Saint-Saens’ “Christmas Oratorio”, Schubert’s “Mass in G”, and Vivaldi’s “Gloria”. This Christmas the choir will be singing Rutter’s “Gloria”. Each Fall the choir takes a retreat for fellowship, relaxation and to get a head start on the season’s anthems and special music.
Singing Saints is our adult choir that sings a lighter style of music. They sings several times each season. Singing Saints have participated in the Transylvania County Silver Arts Festival and have been consistent medal winners. They rehearse on Monday mornings from 11:00 – noon. Once a month the choir goes out to lunch after rehearsal.
