- The mission of our Adult Ministries is to minister to shut-ins, the sick, those recovering from surgery, those experiencing the loss of loved one, the injured, depressed, lonely, etc., and warmly include them in the church family and all church services possible
- Children
- The mission of our Children's Ministry is too provide for Christian education and personal growth for all children through 5th grade.
- Weekday Children's Program
- The missions/purposes of our Weekday Children's Program are 1) To provide a Christian program for children ages one to five that is economically and racially inclusive, that presents an atmosphere of learning, caring and nurturing, that enables children to experience and learn of God's loving care, and that enhances their growth in self-esteem and care for others. 2) To create a network of support and caring communication between parents of young children; to offer parents a time away from children and at the same time offer assurance of the child's safety and well being. 3) To provide children of the First United Methodist Church families a vital connection with their own church beyond regular Sunday activities. 4) To serve as an avenue of outreach and ministry to the community beyond the First United Methodist Church, to provide a doorway through which a person may learn of the ministries and fellowship of the First United Methodist Church, and to foster faith and friendship for parents and children.

- The mission of the Communications Ministry is to facilitate formal communications from all congregational leadership (clergy, staff and lay) to our congregational members, visitors and community.
- Koinonia
- Koinonia is an ecumenical effort embracing different denominations in Transylvania County. While acknowledging the richness and diversity of the various church traditions, Koinonia seeks to build inter-faith understanding and to hear and answer the call to be one body in Christ.
- Lay Leader
- The mission/purpose of the Lay Leader is to serve as a liaison among the ministers, staff and congregation.
- Missions/Outreach
- The purpose of the Missions/Outreach Ministry is to show God's love in gifts to selected charities and needy causes by administering a budget provided by the congregation and by encouraging personal gifts of time, talent and money by individuals in missionary ventures of all sorts.
