Summer Fun at Camp Tekoa

Sign up for summer fun at Camp Tekoa!  Registrations are now being accepted for Camp Tekoa.  Day camps, mini camps, residential camps and special adventure camps are available for kindergarten through high school.  Camp information and a complete list of camps and dates is available from Kim or on-line at www.camptekoa.org.  Camp Tekoa is a camp of the United Methodist Church.

Our church will provide transportation to and from Day Camp during the week of July 28-August 1.  Scholarship funds (partial and full) are available to help with the cost for all children in our church who would like to participate.

Please let Kim know if you are interested or have signed up for any Camp Tekoa programs.  The weeks fill up fast so don't delay!

Mission/Purpose

Through Christian education we invite people and communities of faith to be transformed as they are inspired and challenged to:

  • know and experience God through Jesus Christ,

  • claim and live God's promises, and grow and

  • serve as Christian disciples.

Opportunities to Serve

  • Sunday School Teacher - children/ youth/adults

    • Purpose: To teach about God, the Bible and Jesus, and the journey of faith.

    • Needed: People who like to learn and who love to teach.

    • Time: Sundays 9:30-10:45 am plus preparation time. 

  • Substitute Teacher

    • Purpose: To substitute for lead teachers.

    • Needed:  People who are willing to help every now and then.

    • Time: Varied

  • Sunday School Administration/ Special Projects Christian Education

    • Purpose:  To organize with teachers for special events and projects.

    • Needed:  People who are organized, can work flexibly, and good at recruiting.

    • Time:  A few hours at scheduled times.

  • Lead short-term Bible study

    • Purpose: To provide in-depth Bible study and small group discussion for disciples.

    • Needed:  People who want to lead Bible study for 2-6 weeks.

    • Time:  What works for the study

  • MOPS

    • Purpose: To nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.

    • Needed: Any mother of a preschooler(s) and people who can love and care for the children as the mothers learn.

    • Time:  First Friday of each month 9:30-11:30 am

  • Vacation Bible School volunteer

    • Purpose:  For the church family (of 10 area churches) to reach the church’s community with the good news of Jesus Christ.

    • Needed:  Teachers, crafts, recreation leaders, snack volunteers, etc.

    • Time:  One week during the summer

  • Library/Media Center Volunteer

    • Purpose: To provide the teaching resources needed for the ministries of our church and enrich the personal growth of our members.

    • Needed:  Book catalogers, people to re-shelve and order books, and volunteers to help members find books that fit their needs.

    • Time:  1-2 hours per quarter
